Expectations Students are expected to complete any unfinished class work as homework, unless it is a project that we are working on in class. Sometimes, assignments will have an at-home component to go along with what we are working on in class. Homework is not assigned every day, but that does not mean that there is nothing to do. Here are a few ideas on what you can be doing at home to go along with what we are working on in class.
Language Each night, students should be reading for approximately half an hour. Don't forget to talk about what you are reading with someone at home (e.g., who is your favourite character? what is happening? what do you think of the book? what is the author's message?, etc.). In case you're stuck and you "have nothing to read", why not check out some on-line books!
Math Extra math work is probably the most common request teachers get! Here are some ideas: Take home a textbook -Textbook work is assigned to compliment what we are working on in class. A lot of the math we do is hands on and done in groups, which makes it difficult to take work home. Textbooks have some great practice questions (plus a lesson to explain the concept if you get stuck). Feel free to take a text book home for some extra review; all you have to do is ask. Just remember to return the book the next day as we do have to share them with other classes. In addition, if you make arrangments with myself I can provide extra practice sheets meant to supplement that which we are working on in class. All you have to do is ask.
